Can I drive with the DPF light on?
If the light has just come on, the RAC and AA advise driving at a steady speed above 40mph for 10–20 minutes (for example on the M4 or A419) to let the filter regenerate. If the light stays on, flashes, or the car loses power, stop driving hard and get it checked, as continuing can damage the turbo and filter.
Why does my DPF keep blocking?
The most common cause is lots of short journeys, but faulty sensors, a sticking EGR valve, injector problems or the wrong engine oil can also cause repeat blockages. We check these so you're not back in a few weeks.
Do you remove DPFs?
No. Removing a DPF is illegal on road cars, makes the car fail its MOT and can invalidate your insurance. We repair and restore the filter so it works as designed.
How long does a DPF regeneration take?
A forced regeneration usually takes around an hour, including diagnostics. If the filter needs cleaning off the car it will take longer; we'll let you know before going ahead.
